Finally made it to October! Back to School Night was great. Thanks to all of your parents who showed up. And if yours did not, I’m still interested in contacting them. Email is a great way to connect.
Today’s Warm-up:
Poor Richard’s Almanac
Poor Richard’s is a famous book by Benjamin Franklin. It is famous for a number of sayings that have become American standards. Choose one below, write it, and respond in a paragraph of 5-7 sentences. Count and then write the number of sentences at the end.
- “Be slow in choosing a friend, slower in chaanging.”
- “Have you somewhat to do tomorrow, do it today.”
- “Those who in quarrels interpose, must often wipe a bloody nose.”
-Benjamin Franklin
After discussing the meanings of the quotes, we turned to a review of “Two Kinds” based on the literary elements we have learned: setting, plot, conflict, character, and point of view. It is due at the end of the period.
Your only homework is to study for the vocabulary quiz tomorrow (p. 154-156).
