  2. What was hard about your week?
  3. Is there something you meant to do this week but put off?
  4. What one thing did you do that you enjoyed?
  • In your journals respond:
  1. What did you learn by doing this activity?
  2. Why is answering questions about your week easy OR difficult?
  3. Why is interviewing a difficulty skill to master?
  4. Why are being the interviewer and the interviewee both important skills?

We then read “Civil Peace” with the class and filled in details on our notes (the paper that is divided down the middle). We are looking for 4 different categories of quotations from the story.  They are:

  1. Details that give us insight into Jonathan’s character
  2. Details that five us insight into the social situation in Nigeria at the time of the story
  3. The way dialect and dialogue influences our opinion of the characters
  4. Ironic statements.  Does the speaker really MEAN what she/he says?  Does the narrator really mean what he says?

Your only homework is to study the vocabulary words on p 159 & 160 (viv & tort)
